Sox Continue To Roll Rangers Latest Beat Down Victims

Wow is there anything really to be said at this point ? The Red Sox are continuing to roll over everyone in their way without mercy. Over the weekend they swept the Texas Rangers in Texas to increase their lead in the east to 12.5 games. All of the haters out there can say it’s still early yadda, yadda but you know what the Yankees are not gonna catch the Sox. Look they are 12.5 games back and playing horrible baseball. The bullpen has been taxed to the max and that lineup full of all stars is not hitting the ball. To make matters worse for you Yankee fans is the wild card is a distant distant possibility at this point.

So what can we take from the Texas series ? Well lets see Manny is about to bust out on his routine year and Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis are continuing to produce at the plate. Toss in Coco playing some awesome defense in the field , Beckett coming off the DL and Pedroia gaining more confidence with every game and you got a team on a mission to take on and beat all comers.

Lets Play Catch Up

Jays swept away

The Red Sox are on fire and arguably the best team in baseball. Calm down Brewer fans I am sipping some of your Kool-Aid. I think your story is great for baseball right now in light of all the controversies going on. Lets be honest here kids the Red Sox out right owned the Blue Jays this past week. It was almost to the point of being unfair and oh yeah I’ll mention it again we are doing it with our two biggest bats just starting to warm up. Yankee fans can say what they want but lets be real here they have a very outside chance of sniffing the playoffs and if they do it’s gonna be through the wild card and to be honest that may even pass them by because you almost have to expect the wild card team is gonna come out of that central division right ? I know the White Sox and the Twins are under achieving right now but the way they came on late last season leads me to believe it’s going to be the same this season. I just don’t think the Yankees have the pitching power to get them through the tough late season games when they are tight.

Dice-K seems to have found his control in Toronto. He still walked 3 but he didn’t have his normal 1 inning meltdown in the game so thats a positive. Look it’s going to take Dice-K an entire season to acclimate to this league not to mention pitching in Fenway Park. The same way it took Josh Beckett a year to get used to the American League and Fenway Park it has to be evident Dice-K will need the same acclimation timetable. All you baseball fans out there can say he’s a bust
he’s another Hideki Irabu ect , ect , but lets just put this in perspective. There were 2 big name Japanese pitcher signings in the off season Dice-K and Igawa ( Yankees ) Igawa is currently on the Yankees single A team so what does that tell you about who is the bust.

Red Sox played the first in a three game series against the O’s last night losing 6-3 . If Willy Mo Pena expects more playing time then he is gonna have to improve his fielding 100% because it’s awful. I know I was a big supporter of the sit Coco Let Willy play movement because of the Coco’s struggles at the plate but who knew that would me the circus would be in the outfield ? This guy needs to be in the outfield shagging fly balls during batting practice or something if he wants to see some more playing time.

Thats all I got for right now Sox are beating down the O’s right now 10-4

We Don’t Need Him

So Roger Clemens is going to the Yankees all over again. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t upset initially but then it dawned on me we really don’t need Roger Clemens. I am completely happy with the team we have on the field. Look having Clemens in Boston would have been great for the fans and the city no doubt but honestly how much would it have helped out the Sox ? John Lester is making awesome progress in Pawtucket and should be back by the end of the month. I’d take a younger John Lester who can go more than 5 or 6 innings than a Roger Clemens that would struggle to get through 6.

Personally I believe 100% that Roger’s decision was 100% money based. It’s obvious if he wanted a chance at another ring the logical choice was the Red Sox. The Sox put up the runs and have quality relief pitchers to get to the closer Papelbon. If Roger honestly thinks he can trust that bullpen in New York then he is sorely mistaken. Mike Myers , Scott Proctor, Luis Vizciano come on are you serious ? Roger Clemens had the chance to go to Boston and right something that went so wrong so many years ago. He had the chance to come full circle and win a ring where it all started in Boston. Terry Francona said it best I like our team and I like our chances without Clemens.  This move means nothing it’s a small band aide to fill a gaping wound in that Yankee team and George is trying to throw money at it again.

Bronx Beatdown Red Sox Win 11-4

Guess what kids the Red Sox beat down the Yankees again 11-4 in NYC to take game one of the three game set. I was listening to the game on XM while I was at work and had to suffer through the Yankee broadcasters the whole game. That is a experience I could go with out again but XM only uses the home teams broadcasters .

The Sox jumped out to an early lead in this one with a Youkilis 2 run homer in the third inning. All was well at that point Matsuzaka was doing fine until he hit a wall in the fourth inning walking 3 straight batters then giving up hits to Posada,Damon and Jeter which plated 4 runs for the Yankees. Whats funny during this time the Yankee broadcasters on the radio started talking about how AJ Burnett just owned the Yankees the night before and how much harder he was throwing the ball than Matsuzaka. Dice-K would get out of the inning being down 4-2. The following inning Pettite hit the very same wall walking four batter himself allowing the Sox to capitalize and plate 3 runs in the fifth. At that point the flood gates opened Lugo hit a homer , Pedroia put his bat on the ball and got a double , Coco even got in on the action.

The Joe Torre Fire Pool

When is Joe Torre gonna get fired ? You know it’s gonna happen sometime this season. I say he gets canned before the all-star break. The Red Sox Yankees play 9 more times before the break and unless they win 6 out of those 9 games I say he’s done. If the Yankees are 8 games out within the next week he’s out. So pick a date and leave it in the comments and we can monitor the situation.

Dice-K Rings Up 10 In MLB Debut….. Thats 10k’s Haters !

Dice K

So the Dice-K era is off to a good start. I don’t want to toot my own horn but if you check my previous post I almost called his line for the day. Look I’ll say it right now ” I am not ready to give him the Cy Young award ” come on it is one game but you know what it’s the one game all the haters were saying he had to do all the amazing things he’s been hyped up to do and he showed and proved he belongs. First the haters say lets get him some MLB hitters then they say the Royals are a minor league team. Look there is no denying Dice-k’s talent you can’t deny it and we all know his biggest test will come later this month when the Yankees come to Fenway. This will go on all season even when he has 15 wins people will still say well he has to prove himself with some more ridiculous hurdles for him ….Uh he’s got to pitch in Fenway with a tiger chasing him around the infield I mean come on YANKEE FANS if he was in pin stripes your would be as excited as Red Sox Nation.

Overall the game went well Papelbon came in and sat 2 down for the save. The doubles where flying all over the place. Hey say what you want about Drew but if this guy stays healthy all season he is a legitimate candidate to challenge Papi for the RBI title . Who’s with me on that one ?

Tim Wakefield

Well the Sox will be traveling to Texas to play the Rangers and Timmy Wakifield will be getting his first start of the season. It will be interesting to see how Wakefield pitches after being injured last season. Timmy does not have to do to much for us this season. If we can get Lester back Timmy can go to the pen play long reliever and eat up innings which would be a huge help not to mention being in the bullpen with the youngsters keeping their minds right.
